During those critical times of frequent power outages, MATEC became an integral part of National Power Corporations (NPC) history by being a constant partner in rehabilitation work and upgrading of NPC's major power plants that feed Metro Manila. In the recent years of the privatisation and deregulation of the Philippine power industry, MATEC has supplied essential equipment and major components as well as balance of plant to various Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

The discovery of natural gas provided the basis for the First Philippine Gas, Inc. to implement the first gas-fired combined cycle power plant, Sta. Rita with
a capacity of 1,000 MW. In representing a power plant concept with the highest fuel efficiency and a proven turnkey capability, MATEC paved the way in obtaining the largest contract the German industry was ever awarded in the Philippines.

In the field of hydro-energy, MATEC pursues the more than half a century long tradition of German turbines for hydro electric power plants.

Various emergency and standby diesel generator plants were installed to guarantee the uninterrupted operation of industrial plants and urban commercial buildings. The turnkey installation of 7 diesel power stations on remote islands initiated a major breakthrough in rural electrification. Aside from the numerous permanent diesel generator installations,
a pool of gensets for rent enables MATEC to supply temporary power for the implementation of greenfield construction projects.
